Speeding convictions under scrutiny as cameras fail

The Department for Transport has launched an independent review into National Highways’ speed cameras after a technical failure.

This investigation will assess cases dating back to 2019, affecting 154 cameras across 10% of England’s motorways and major A-roads.

Transport Minister Lord Hendy said drivers wrongly convicted of speeding may reclaim losses, such as increased insurance premiums, if they can provide evidence.
