Dorset is the most expensive county for driver’s education courses. Each year for offences including speeding, using a mobile phone and careless driving as an alternative to penalty points.
According to motoring magazine Auto Express, Dorset is the most expensive county in the UK for the national driver alertness course (NDAC). It charges £200 per course, whereas Essex charge as little as £100. The Police and crime commissioner has asked Dorset Police to review the cost.
This course is offered to approximately 200 motorists per year. It covers all driving offences not just speeding whereas other counties only offer education courses in relation to speeding offences.
Dorset only charges £100 for its other educational course the popular driver awareness scheme(DAS) again this covers all driving offences not just speed, and is offered to tens of thousands of drivers each year for offences including speeding, using mobile phones and careless driving as alternative to penalty points. The moral of the story is to drive safely. The courses still offer good value for money as opposed to the consequences of receiving penalty points on your licence for committing any don’t of driving offence.
